Walk through the pretty cottage garden into Woodhouse Lane. Follow the lane away from Main Street for a lovely easy walk to Birchover and Stanton Moor or turn right to the village shops and pubs.

Behind the cottage is a stone-flagged patio with a table and chairs and built-in barbecue for leisurely summer meals.

The pump is just for decoration these days but we are told the name comes from the cottage’s former role - the laundry for nearby Winster Hall.
